Nighttime at the KaDeWe
Soon the lift will also take you to the wine bar and the champagne bar in the evening
When the KaDeWe closes at 8pm, it doesn’t mean you have to go home. From the end of November one area on the sixth floor will stay open late into the evening. A separate entrance and a lift takes you there. The floor houses restaurants and bars, such as the Wine Bar.
Their wine list is as comprehensive as it is choice. It features wines from the French Châteaux Latour and Margaux, the Italian wines Sassicaia and Ornellaia and selected wines from small winemakers. Guests can help themselves to wine by the glass at the touch of a button. There are some 40 wines by the glass to choose from.
The design combines industrial with classical elegance. Steel and loft-like ceilings with exposed pipes lend a modern touch, and tiles and red leather give it a traditional bar character.
From the end of November, the champagne bar is another late evening option. Here, high up on the sixth floor, you’ll find rows and rows of selected bottles. Their eight top class brands, with three different varieties each, make a visit worth your while. The bar staff will explain to you how they all differ (and of course they all come from the French region to which champagne owes its name).
You can enjoy them in a light champagne ambience. The newly designed bar features a curved marble counter, polished gold surfaces and a cream-coloured terrazzo floor. With a little imagination, even the spherical lamps look like champagne bubbles. If you like, you can order some snacks with your glass of champagne to help you hold your drink.
